Fishing in Tonga with Hakula Lodge and the Monu'la

With over 25 years of experience, the Monu'Ia crew have plenty of local knowledge to make your day's fishing a successful one.

Our charters departs from our private dock at Hakula Lodge which has an IGFA certified weigh station.  We do not have set charter times - instead we base our departures around a combination of the optimum 'bite times', current conditions and the anglers needs.

Within 5 mins from leaving the dock we are fishing. We normally run some small lures on the way to the marlin grounds which are located 500m from the edge of the island group, where the ocean drops from 400m to 1200m. This drop off run north - south along the whole island group. We also have 3 FAD's placed in strategic positions along the drop off which normally hold bait fish and bigger pelagics. On board Monu'Ia we have both light and heavy tackle, chair and stand up, we predominantly target Marlin, Sailfish and Yellowfin Tuna on heavy tackle and GT's, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Spanish Mackerel on light tackle.

We supply morning tea, lunch and drinking water for your day aboard Monu'Ia.

On MONU'IE we promote tag & release, in saying that we are also quite open to taking some fish for the table as we know most anglers like to eat some fish that they have caught.
